Will Napoli stop Juventus domination?

SSC Napoli is one of the most successful clubs in Italian football with two Serie A trophies,five Coppa Italia and two Italian Supercoppa. On the European stage they have only one trophy, the Uefa Cup in 1988-1989 season.

According to Uefa rankings from this year, Napoli are ranked as the 8th club in European football and 2nd club in Serie A. This performance is even greater, considering that they are in front of clubs like Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain and after they were only on 106th position in 2010-2011 season. The club is also in top 20 most valuable clubs in the world, on seventeen place with a value of around $350 million.

Last season, Napoli were close to win the Serie A as they fought for the trophy with Juventus. In the end they finished only 2nd at 9 points behind Juventus. But the title was not won so easily by Juventus. Both clubs were close in the standings but in the end Napoli made a few wrong steps. Even so this is a good performance that allows them to play in the next edition of Champions League, which will bring nice profits to the club.

Anyway the things have not started so well for the fans as their star, Gonzalo Higuain was sold to their rivals Juventus. Higuain scored 36 goals in 35 games for Napoli last season.

Mauro Icardi from Inter and Diego Costa from Chelsea were on the shortlist but in the end it was Arkadiusz Milik from Ajax Amsterdam for €34 million who arrived at San Paolo. Also in this summer were brought defender Lorenzo Tonelli from Empoli for €10 million, midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini from Sunderland for €1.5 million and Polonaise  midfielder Piotr Zielinski from Udinese for €16 million.

When things seemed to have cooled down, there were rumors that suggest that another important playerit is very close to leave the club. It seems that Chelsea Londra are decided to buy the Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly and they are prepared to make a bid around €70 million, an offer that is hard to refuse especially for a defender.

Napoli are also interested on Simone Zaza from Juventus and they are prepared to make an offer of around €25 million for the Italian striker.

Everybody is curios how Maurizio Sarri will manage to motivate the players to fight for the title after so many changes in the team. It’s very important how long will take for the new players to adapt to the new team and new style. Can Napoli win the Serie A? It’s to early to say that, but surely they will be a strong team.

Uefa Super Cup preview

Real Madrid and FC Sevilla will meet on 9th of August at Lerkendal Stadion from Trondheim, Norway in the 2016 Uefa Super Cup. This will be the 41st edition from an annual football match organised by UEFA , where the winners from UEFA Champions League an UEFA Europa League play.

It is a match where Real Madrid are the big favorites and their fans hope that their favorites will repeat their 2-0 victory against Sevilla from the 2014 UEFA Super Cup from Cardiff.

Los Blancos had a good run in Champions league and won a group with Paris Saint-Germain, Shakhtar Donetsk and Malmö FF. In the first Knockout round they beat Roma 4-0 on aggregate with a double 2-0.
In quarter finals they meet Wolfsburg and the Germans were close to make a surprise after they won the first leg with 2-0, but Real Madrid managed to win second leg with 3-0 and to go through to the semifinal. They won the first leg at home 1-0 against Manchester City  succeed to defend that one goal advantage in England.

The final  was a replay of the final from 2014 against the rivals Atletico Madrid. In 2014 they won after extra time, now they needed the penalty shootout to win.
Sevilla started the European campaign in Champions League, but finished 3rd in a group with Manchester City, Juventus Torino and Borussia Mönchengladbach. They failed to advanced in the knockout round of Champions League, but they qualified in Europa League. They beat Molde 3-1 on aggregate, then 3-0 with Basel in the next round.

In the quarter finals they won against Athletic Bilbao after penalty shootout. In semifinals they beat Shakhtar Donetsk 5-3 on aggregate. They beat Liverpool with 3-1 and managed to win the trophy three time in a row. Everybody is curious to see what changes will bring the new coach as Unai Emery left Sevilla for French champions Paris Saint-Germain. Rarely has a dominance of both club and international football been so strong, but Spain’s stranglehold continues, with the two domestic rivals meeting in Trondheim, on August 9, two years on from their last meeting on the same stage.

Euro 2016 quarter-finals preview

The Euro 2016 quarter-finals look set to produce tightly-contested encounters. The first game of this stage will start tonight with Poland and Portugal battling for a place in the semi-finals.

Wales will play Belgium on Friday, Germany against Italy on Saturday and France against Iceland on Sunday. You can check the remaning UEFA Euro 2016 fixture list on BetHut.

With France, Germany and Italy all on the same part of the table we can have see one of Belgium, Portugal and Poland in the final.

France and Germany remain the main favorites, but Italy’s game against Spain proved that they should be also taken into consideration.

Wales vs Belgium preview – Euro 2016

Wales will play Belgium on Friday 30 June in the second game of the Euro 2016 quarter-finals. Wales were placed in Group B along with England, Slovakia and Russia. They won the group with 6 points as they beat Russia and Slovakia and lost against England. Wales managed to qualify in the quater-finals after winning 1-0 against Nord Ireland in the next round.

On the other side Belgium were in the Group E with  Italy, Sweden and Ireland. They finished 2nd with 6 points, same as Italy. In the next round  they passed Hungary with a categorical 4-0 win.

Belgium and Wales were in the same Qualifying Group for Euro 2016 and both coaches know the strengths and weaknesses of the other team. Wales have won 4 points in the last 2 games but even so Belgium are the favorites according to the odds from Bet365. Wales manager Chris Coleman has praised Belgium squad and said that the minimum expectation for such players must be the semifinal.
