Thierry Henry retires from national squad

Thierry Henry announced that he will retire from national squad only few days after his transfer New York Red Bulls.

The former World and European Champion scored 51 goals in 123 games for France.

The France international had a disappointing World Cup with France in South Africa. Besides the fact that they failed to qualify from the group stage the atmosphere in France squad was not the best one. Anelka was sent home after the dispute with Raymond Domenech.

Henry began his senior career at Monaco where he spent 7 years before moving to Juventus. His glorious days were at Arsenal were he moved after shortly experience in Turin.

He managed to score 174 goals in 254 games for Arsenal and he became the club goalscorer. At Arsenal Henry has won almost everything a player can desire. He has trophies with the club and national team but also individual awards.

The most notable awards that he missed were Golden Ball and Champions League. He moved then to Barcelona were he finally won the Champions League.

Although he had another year contract with Barcelona he decided that a new challenge is the best for him.
