No! We are not talking about Man United’s star Owen Hargreaves, but England international striker Michael Owen.
The former Real Madrid and Liverpool hit-man is facing a bad time with Newcastle United after being knocked out from the FA Cup by Hull City.
Although Newcastle United have offered Owen an improved three-year contract extension. It seems Michael was not happy. Current crisis with Newcastle United can bring back the attention from other English clubs like Tottenham and our team Man United to move Owen away from St. James’ Park.
Sir Alex Ferguson has showed some interest to sign Owen as an alternative during summer transfer window. However at the end of the transfer window United could sign their top target Berbatov.
If Owen moves to Manchester United, it would be shocking move. United fans have not experienced such a situation, to welcome a former Liverpool player, since long time. But I believe that such a move would be great for United. First United can increase their goals-sheet with an extra 15 goals and fans would see again Owen-Rooney partnership.
Everyone remembers that when we won the famous treble in 1999, United had 5 strikers (Cole, Yorke, Sheringham, Solskjaer and Cruyff). So I believe Owen addition will give Sir Alex’s squad an extra boost as the team is going to play extra games this season, in FIFA world Club Cup and he will give Fergie more options in the front line.
The last decision will come from Owen himself if he can see himself wearing Man United shirt and from Sir Alex.
As a United fan, will you welcome Michael Owen move?
