Newcastle signed Santon from Inter

Newcastle United have announced that they completed the signing of Italian fullback Davide Santon from Inter Milan.

The transfer sum has not been made public but is believed that it is around €5 millions. Santon is still considered as one of the most talented young defenders in Europe but he failed to earn a starting place at Inter.

His best performances were under Jose Mourinho, the former Inter coach who promoted him to the first team. The 20 years old defender suffered an injury that kept him away from the pitch for a quite long time. After returning back to action he failed to reproduce the performances before the injury.

He spent a lot of time on the bench and then he was loaned to Cesena for a half of the season but even there his performances were not of the best.

Santon can play on both sides but he will probably play on the left side as Jose Enrique left the club for Liverpool.
