After a disastrous start of the season with Gasperini in charge Massimo Moratti decided to end the collaboration with the 53 year old coach.
The 3-1 defeat against new promoted Novara was the final game for Gasperini at Giuseppe Meazza.
Ranieri was on Inter shortlist along with Luis Figo, Quique Sanchez Flores or Carlo Ancelotti but the former Roma and Chelsea manager won the race.
The Italian coach has signed a contract until 2013 with the former Champions League winners. Ranieri coached Serie A teams like Cagliari, Napoli, Fiorentina, Parma, Juventus and Roma before and was close to win the scudetto with Roma and Juventus 2 times.
He had some adventures outside Italy too. He was the head coach of Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Valencia two times.
Now everybody expects to see how Ranieri will revitalize Inter players. Some specialists considered that there is an end of a cycle at Inter and only the lack of motivation is the cause for the bad performances.
Ranieri declared that he will work on the psychological part and that he will have private discussions with the players.
