Probably the most expected game of the weekend ended with a draw. It was a match that Manchester could not afford to lose it.
Before this game Manchester were six points behind Chelsea and a bad result at Stamford Bridge would have considerably cut the title chances.
It was a game in which both managers tried to surprise their opponent with their moves.
Sir Alex Fergusson opted for a hard working middle preferring Park and Fletcher to Nani and Giggs.
Felippe Scolari who had to find a replacement for Deco, opted to play with four attacking midfielders and only Anelka in front.
Manchester started the game better and manage to score in the 18th minute when Korean Park rebounded after Cech’s parry.
The goal came just after Carvalho’s injury and the things started to get worse for Chelsea.
But it was not only Chelsea who had to suffer a big blow, Manchester‘s goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar also got injured after a contact with Malouda. Kusczcak came in to replace him.
The half-time score was 1-0 for Manchester and Scolari had no option then attack. As it was expected Drogba came in just two minutes into the second half to replace Malouda.
This move had an immediate effect on Chelsea‘s game. Chelsea began to dominate and in response Ferguson threw Ronaldo into the battle. With this move Manchester became dangerous again.
Everybody expected to end with a Manchester victory, but it was Scolari again with a inspired move. Kalou came on to replace Ballack and after only 6 minutes he managed to score.
Both teams seemed satisfied with the score and none of them wanted to risk.
