Can Vargas emulate Roberto Carlos performances at Real Madrid?

Latest reports from Spain are suggesting that the next target for Real Madrid is Fiorentina‘s versatile Peruvian Juan Manuel Vargas.

The Spanish giants have spent over €250 millions last summer when they brought in players like Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema or Xabi Alonso to Bernabeu but it looks like they wont stop here.
Real Madrid failed to find a replacement for Roberto Carlos since he left Madrid in 2007. Heinze, Marcelo and Drenthe all failed to establish themselves as regular holders for the left back position which has led Real looking for another solution.

Vargas seems to be the perfect solution and an offer of around €20 million could convince Fiorentina to let their star go. Vargas was compared with Roberto Carlos by the time he was still in Catania because of his free-kicks and left band crosses.

Vargas arrived at Fiorentina in 2008 for a sum of around €12 millions.

Vargas started as a left-back at Fiorentina but this season he played in a more attacking position. Looks like this change was good for the Peruvian who scored 2 goals and was named man of the match on a few occasions.
