Barca to offer Xavi a new contract

Barcelona are in good shape this season with five wins from five games in Primera Division, eight points above  their rivals from Real Madrid. But that doesn’t mean that they don’t have anything to worry.

Reports from Spain suggest that Barcelona will start to negotiate a new deal with Xavi. Even if the player’s contract is going to expire in 2014 and that is hard to believe that the Spanish maestro will leave Barcelona for other team, the board is ready to open talks with the 32 years old midfielder.

There are not few who think that Barcelona’s success in the last couple of seasons is due to the “brain” from the midfield.

Xavi has made over 600 appearances for Barcelona and he is one of the few players that have more than 500 games with a club at the highest level.
